ABL109: Jeffrey Wilson on Shakespeare, ethics and Game of Thrones

Jeffrey Wilson asks why and how Shakespeare has come to occupy his distinctive place in contemporary culture as a literary and theatrical industry, and explores the ethics of working with Shakespeare, tragedy and the production of art. He also tells us about that most 2020-21 experience, claustrophobic harm, and celebrates putting students at the heart of academic research, producing scholarship written for and with students. Jeffrey’s most recent book, Shakespeare and Game of Thrones, has just been published, and we hear about the historical, ethical and artistic crossovers between these two hugely popular performance and word-based phenomena.
