In this film we celebrate Catherine Fletcher’s new book, The Beauty and the Terror: An Alternative History of the Italian Renaissance. Catherine also talks to us about the opportunities and challenges of writing for the public as an academic, and we discuss the way this kind of work is often gendered and depends on the scholarly labour of early-career, precarious and often female researchers.
